    The weather on Pole Day was serene and stunning. You could tell immediately that it was going to be a perfect day for practice and pole qualifications. Even before the day's schedule began, I personally and quietly predicted that Ed would be in the top 9 along with Dan.     It was fully expected that Fast Friday morning would be greeted to the sight of pouring rain. It turns out that was not the case. Rather, it was cloudy and cool but dry. Still, rain was to be fully expected before the day ended. I didn't realize until getting to the transporter that my rain slicker was forgotten in the Dodge's trunk but I wasn't about to make the long odyssey back out there to get it.     Upon arrival at IMS Tuesday morning, an entire fleet of safety vehicles was out circumnavigating the track in an attempt to get rid of moisture remaining from Monday and overnight.
